Yards we've actually built.

Each one lists the problem we found, what we did about it, the budget, and how it held up. Budgets are shown because guessing is the worst part of hiring a contractor.

Six projects

Scope, budget, and outcome.

Hollister9 days

Front lawn to native garden

Lawn removal, DG path, drip conversion

$11,400
Problem
A 1,900 sq ft front lawn on spray heads, brown by July and still running six days a week.
What we did
Sod removed and hauled, soil amended, a decomposed granite path curved through boulders and native grasses, all of it on drip with a weather-based controller.
Result
Outdoor water use down roughly 62% over the first full summer.

Backyard patio and fire pit

Flagstone patio, seat wall, lighting

$18,900
Problem
A sloped, unusable back yard with drainage running toward the house after every winter storm.
What we did
Regraded away from the foundation, a French drain to the side yard, a 480 sq ft flagstone patio with a curved seat wall, gas fire pit, and low-voltage lighting.
Result
The family's most-used room is now outside, nine months of the year.
San Juan Bautista6 days

Mission-district courtyard refresh

Planting, gravel, irrigation repair

$6,300
Problem
A historic-district courtyard with failed irrigation, bare soil, and a plant list that never suited the shade.
What we did
Shade-tolerant Mediterranean planting, crushed gravel surface, drip rebuilt zone by zone, and pots staged for seasonal color.
Result
A rentable event space that needs about twenty minutes of care a week.
Tres Pinos2 days

Defensible space on a ranch parcel

Fire-safe clearing, weed abatement

$2,750
Problem
Four acres of dry grass to the fence line ahead of a fire-district inspection.
What we did
Mowed and cleared 100 feet around structures, limbed up oaks, and hauled the green waste rather than piling it.
Result
Passed inspection on the first visit, with photo documentation for the insurer.
HollisterOngoing since 2022

Downtown storefront maintenance

Weekly commercial maintenance

$390/mo
Problem
Street-facing planters and sidewalk beds that looked tired by Wednesday every week.
What we did
Early-morning weekly service before opening, seasonal color rotation, and a photo log emailed to the property manager.
Result
Zero complaints from the merchants association in two years.
Aromas2.5 weeks

Erosion control on a hillside lot

Terracing, native planting, mulch

$14,200
Problem
A bare slope losing soil into the driveway every wet season.
What we did
Two low retaining terraces, deep-rooted native shrubs and grasses, jute netting, and heavy mulch to hold it through establishment.
Result
Two winters in, no soil in the driveway and the slope is filling in.
Projects FAQ

About the work shown here.

Are these real project prices?

They're representative sample numbers for this demo, but they reflect realistic Hollister-area ranges for the scope described. A real estimate always depends on access, soil, and materials.

Can I see examples of your finished work around Hollister or San Juan Bautista?

Several of our local clients allow us to walk prospective customers through their completed yards. If you ask during your estimate, we can often arrange a visit if there is a finished project nearby that matches the scope of your own.

What kind of water savings can I expect from a lawn conversion?

In our recent local projects, homeowners saw outdoor water consumption drop by 45% to 70% during the first summer. The primary drivers for these savings are transitioning from high-waste sprayers to efficient drip lines and installing a weather-based smart controller.

What happens if a plant dies?

Plants installed by us are warranted for one year when the irrigation we set stays in place. We replace it once and figure out why it failed rather than just swapping it.

Do you accept small residential repair jobs in Hollister?

Yes. We handle minor tasks like repairing a broken irrigation valve, fixing a small seat wall, or refreshing a single planting bed. In fact, many of our largest installations along the Highway 156 corridor started as simple service calls.

What is your current wait time for a landscape installation?

Our build crew is typically booked out 2 to 5 weeks, though irrigation repairs and seasonal cleanups can often be scheduled sooner. Spring is our busiest window, so we recommend planning your summer-ready yard in February.

Will my Hollister backyard renovation require City or County permits?

Permits are necessary for specific types of work, such as retaining walls over 4 feet tall, certain drainage tie-ins, or structural builds. We manage all the necessary filings and coordinate our construction timeline around the local inspection dates.
