About the crew

Local soil, local crew.

We work clay soil, hard water, and hundred-degree summers every week of the year. That's why our plant lists look different from a catalog and why the base under our patios is deeper than the minimum.

How a yard job runs

One crew, start to finish.

The owner walks every estimate and draws every plan. The same build crew handles grading, drainage, hardscape, irrigation, and planting, so nobody can blame the last trade for what went wrong.

Crews are on site by 7am and off residential streets by 5pm, and the sidewalk gets swept every afternoon whether the job is finished or not.

Who shows up

The people on your property.

Ruben Salas

Owner, C-27 licensed — Fourteen years on San Benito County yards. Walks every estimate himself and draws the plans.

Tomás Reyes

Build crew lead — Grading, drainage, and hardscape. If the base is wrong, everything on top of it fails — that's his line.

Dee Whitfield

Horticulture & irrigation — Plant selection for clay soil and 100-degree Augusts, plus every controller program we set.

Our process

Same four steps on every job.

Whether it's a $475 cleanup or a $30,000 design-build, the sequence doesn't change.

1. Walk the property

Free on-site visit inside our service area. We look at sun, soil, slope, drainage, and what your irrigation is actually doing before anyone talks price.

2. Plan and firm number

You get a drawn plan for design-build work and a line-item estimate for everything else. Materials, labor, and haul-off are broken out so nothing hides in a lump sum.

3. Build

Grading and drainage first, then hardscape, then irrigation, then plants. Same crew start to finish, and the site gets swept every afternoon.

4. Walk-through and care plan

We walk it together, set the controller, and hand over a watering and pruning schedule for the first year. Maintenance is optional, never bundled in without asking.

Crew questions

Licensing, payment, and warranty.

Who will be on-site performing the work at my home?

Our owner personally visits your property for the initial estimate, and the same local crew stays on your project from start to finish. We never subcontract your yard to outside firms, keeping all labor in-house with professionals who live right here in the Aromas and Paicines area.

How long has the crew been landscaping here?

Fourteen years working yards in Hollister and across San Benito County in this sample, with most work coming from neighbors of past projects.

Does the landscaping crew speak Spanish?

Yes. Estimates, plans, and crew communication are handled in English and Spanish.

How do payments work on a landscape install?

California law caps a contractor's deposit at $1,000 or 10% of the contract, whichever is less. After that we bill by completed phase, never ahead of the work.

What warranties do you offer on new San Benito County landscapes?

We stand by our work with a 1-year warranty on plants (provided we install and manage the irrigation), a 2-year warranty on hardscape craftsmanship, and full manufacturer coverage on all lighting components and irrigation timers.

Do your landscape crews carry workers' compensation?

Yes, plus general liability. Ask for certificates from anyone quoting your yard — if a crew is hurt on an uninsured job, that exposure lands on the homeowner.

Are there certain landscaping tasks you do not handle?

We do not specialize in pool construction or large-scale tree removals. To ensure the highest quality for our clients, we prefer to refer these specialized trades to our network of trusted partners rather than performing work outside of our core expertise.
